Wise Hands, a specialized massage therapy practice for seniors and people facing chronic illness, is based in New York City. I started Wise Hands in 2002 as a solo practitioner and spent the past ten years growing it into a group practice. In 2009 I was invited to start a massage therapy program at a hospice, where I now work full-time, recruiting and training massage therapy volunteers to work with patients, their families, and hospice staff.
Even though my hospice work has become my primary focus, I have been able to keep Wise Hands active as a specialized massage therapy practice with the help of a few trusted colleagues. New clients will be seen by one of these wonderful practitioners. I am available on a limited basis as an instructor and consultant.
We welcome inquiries from clients who are looking to add massage to their regular health routine on a weekly or bi-weekly basis in the comfort of their own home. We are not equipped to be a one-time housecall service, but are happy to provide a referral to another company for those kinds of requests. If you are interested in our services, please click the “contact” tab on this website.
Gentle touch, applied mindfully, has tremendous potential to relieve suffering as people approach their final years, months, weeks, and days of life. Wise Hands Blog is a place to learn about this powerful work. It includes anecdotes, testimonies, scientific and news articles, and lessons in palliative massage techniques. Feel free to read about this work on the other pages of this website.

Eva, I was moved by your thoughtful, well written studies.
Thank you, Sharon
Dear Eva,
I am an RN and LMT who is presently trying to establish a MT component at the small rural Illinois hospice where I am employed as an RN. I have just joined the My NHPCO network where I have signed up for various egroups. I read your postings on the allied therapist group with great interest and especially appreciated your willingness to respond to a request for help with MT documentation in hospice setting. From there, I found your blog which is very compassionate and informational. Thanks so much for shiaring your experience..and I look forward to communicating with you through NHCPCO..
Blessings,
Marlene Moshage RN, LMT
PS I have also subscribed to your blog and looking forward to future postings
